Mirror systems installation, May 2009
Mechanical installation of the mirror systems and vacuum commissioning was carried out in May 2009 by IDT. The vacuum vessel sitting on its support is aligned to the grid of Alba can be seen below. A base of natural granite serve to provide a mechanically stable support structure.
It is also possible to see the yellow rail of the 1000 kg internal manual hoist on the outboard side of the Optics hutch. All chicane lids have been removed in preparation for the laying of cables and network installation.
The focussing system consists of a horizontally collimating mirror, its center pole at 26.173 m downstream the centre of the undulator source, and a focussing toroidal mirror, its center pole at 27 m downstream the undulator source. Both mirrors are housed in a common vacuum chamber.
