80 kW in Dampy Cavity
Thursday, April 23rd, the final test to reach 80 kW of dissipated power in the storage ring Dampy cavity walls was a success.
Figure below shows the day’s data.
The black curve is the power, 80 kW was reached at 11:50.
Maintained from 12:10 to 12:40 and repeated again from 12:55 to 13:10.
Dampy is the cavity for the storage ring, there are six of them to provide the required voltage and to power the beam.
In operation, Dampy will have to sustain 56 kW of dissipated power in its walls in order to provide the required voltage.
The test, at more than 40% of extra dissipated power, has demonstrated that the cavity will reliably operate.
