First synchrotron X-rays in the x-ray microscopy beamline
Front End of BL 9 Mistral open
Thanks to the effort of the ALBA staff (controls, alignment, engineering, safety, accelerator and Mistral team), the opening of the Front End of Beamline 09 Mistral on Friday March 18th has been straightforward since everything worked as expected.
Keeping the tradition, one more cava bottle has been opened.
The beam that you see in the picture is the foot print of the bending magnet radiation with dimensions defined by the movable masks of the Front End on a fluorescent screen located in the optics hutch before the first focusing mirror. As shown on the picture, the fluorescent screen has a scale which marks in both directions correspond to 1 mm.
This is an important step towards the commissioning of the beamline and it illustrates that many things are already working.
