More information about Phase II beamlines
We have received several inquires of publishing in our website more details on the evaluation of phase II proposals. What follows is the ranking of the proposals established by the SAC in its 11 th meeting:
A1: MIRAS “An Infrared Microspectroscopy Beamline for ALBA “
A2: LOREA “Low-Energy Ultra-High-Resolution Angular Photoemission for Complex Materials
A3: Microfocus Beamline for Macromolecular Crystallography
B1: Micro-focus Beam Line in Alba
B2: Single Crystal and Energy Dependent Scattering at ALBA
B3: High Resolution and micro-focus X-Ray Diffraction Beamline
C: AIBA: ALBA Imaging and Biomedical Applications
With the following definitions:
A: should be considered for funding now if resources are available in Phase II;
B: should not be considered for funding in Phase II. The scientific case is strong
enough that a new proposal could be considered in the future if modified appropriately;
C: should not be considered for funding in Phase II and the scientific case does not warrant consideration in the near future round of proposals.
As these definitions have been criticised by the “Junta Directiva de AUSE ” in particular the definition of C , the SAC in its 12 th meeting decided to revise these definitions in future .
Additionally, ALBA has sent to the
main proposer of each project the corresponding evaluation which resulted from a
summary of the comments of the referees.”
