CALL FOR SYNCHROTRON USERS FOR SELECTING PHASE-III BEAMLINES

You are here: Home / MEDIA / NEWS / CALL FOR SYNCHROTRON USERS FOR SELECTING PHASE-III BEAMLINES
On April 10th 2014, ALBA is organizing a workshop with the scientific community for a pre-screening of ALBA phase-III beamlines. Synchrotron users who are interested in supporting new beamlines must send a proposal –preferably agreed with other researchers -before 31st March and to present it during the workshop to be held on April.

Currently, there are seven phase-I beamlines in ALBA, which are in operation at the moment. Completing these phase-I beamlines, two projects are reaching their final stage: the MARES scattering end station on BL29-BOREAS and the CLEAR spectrometer on BL22-CLAESS. Phase-II beamlines were approved in 2009 including two new beamlines: MIRAS (infrared microspectroscopy) –under construction – and LOREA (angle-resolved electron photoemission) – on the design stage -.

After analyzing the results from the survey among synchrotron users, the ALBA Synchrotron is now organizing a one-day workshop to launch the elaboration of scientific cases for phase-III beamlines – as it was decided during the AUSE-ALBA user meeting-.

Users interested in proposing or giving support to phase-III beamlines should self-organize and send a common proposal as indicated in the accompanying letter (link at the bottom of this news). These proposals should be presented by the supporting team, or at least one of its member, during the workshop.

To submit a proposal, please contact Miguel Ángel García Aranda, Scientific Director of ALBA, before 31st March 2014.
