On Saturday 18th June, from 09:00 till 19:00, ALBA is celebrating its 2016 Open Day. During the whole day, visitors will be able to explore the facility and discover its functions and applications. The tour will also include demonstrations, experiments, conferences and activities for all ages.
Around 50 people attended the industrial seminar organized by the ALBA Synchrotron where companies were able to know how to use synchrotron light for analyzing materials such as cements, pigments, ceramics and glasses. The event was officially opened by the Minister of Business and Knowledge of the Catalan Government, Jordi Baiget.
A University of Barcelona research team has come to the NCD beamline of the ALBA Synchrotron for this experiment. One of the study’s conclusions is that the smooth mouthfeel results from the small size of the crystals and the lower melting temperature of the velvety chocolate coating.
From Monday April 11 to April 15, more than 450 scientists (including representatives from ALBA), leaders of high-tech industry, universities and research centres gather in Rome (Italy), to review the progress on Future Circular Collider (FCC) concepts for the post-LHC era.
MIRAS, the 8th ALBA beamline – devoted to infrared microspectroscopy - has started its commissioning getting the first synchrotron light outside the accelerators' tunnel. Now, MIRAS is available in our machine status digital signage system. The first official experiments will start in November 2016 at the latest.
