Cerdanyola del Vallès, 21st November 2023  ALBA, ESRF, CDTI and LEAPS are organising a Big Science supplier forum, focussing on the forthcoming light source technology needs, in particular those linked to the large-scale synchrotron upgrades being planned at this time.

Participants will learn about the needs of the ALBA light source for its upgrade, as well as the current upgrade planning of the wider range of European light sources. There will also be an opportunity for feedback and discussion on how technology suppliers can work more effectively with Big Science facilities, building on past experience and the LEAPS Innovation pilot project supported by the European Commission. High-level facility management will be present together with engineer and technical experts, and facility technology transfer staff.

The event starts at 11:00 h with an institutional welcome by Caterina Biscari, Director of the ALBA Synchrotron. After, Alejandro Sánchez, Head of the ALBA Industrial Liaison Office, will talk about the LEAPS-INNOV experience of industry engagement for new technologies.

Later on, a round table formed by big science facilities and industry representatives will discuss on how working better together for ground breaking technologies: C. Biscari (ALBA), M.A. Carrera (AVS), R.Trigo (CDTI), A. Bonucci (LEAPS-INNOV), P. Giacomelli (AIDAinnova), J.M. Pérez (I.FAST), E. Fernández (INDUCIENCIA), moderator: Ed Mitchell (ESRF).

After lunch, different talks will show an overview of the synchrotron light sources future upgrade projects: ALBA II (F. Pérez/J.Nicolas), PETRAIV at DESY (H. Reichert), DIAMOND2 (A. Arthur), ELETTRA2 (M. Peloi) and SOLEIL2 (C. Herbeaux). There will be also a facility poster session, networking with coffee and a visit to the ALBA Experimental Hall. The event will finish at 17:30 h.
