Since 2005, the European Researchers' Night organizes popular activities in 300 cities of 26 European countries to increase the visibility of science. The activities organized by the ALBA Synchrotron  are focused on improving the image of scientists - showing the impact of their research in our everyday life - and encouraging young people to embark on scientific careers – demonstrating that science can be fun -.

The events are supported by the European Commission in accordance with Horizon2020 program. There are fourteen partners taking part of this event and 'Càtreda de Cultura Científica i Comunicació Digital (C4D) from the Universitat de Girona' is in charge to coordinate the other thirteen:  BIOcomuniCA'T, the Centro Nacional de Investigación sobre la Evolución Humana (CENIEH) from Burgos, the Fundació Catalana per a la Recerca i la Innovació, the Fundación Parque Científico y Tecnológico de Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, the Fundación Sèneca from Múrcia, the Institut de Recerca Biomèdica from Lleida, the Junta de Castella i Lleó, the Museu de la Ciencia from Valladolid, the ALBA Synchrotron from Cerdanyola del Vallès and universities from Cantabria, Extremadura, Murcia and Oviedo. Those activities are also supported by Cerdanyola del Vallès local government.
