INTERDISCIPLINARY AND MULTIMODAL (IMM) SECTION

You are here: Home / Science @ ALBA / INTERDISCIPLINARY AND MULTIMODAL (IMM) SECTION

The Interdisciplinary and MultiModal (IMM) Section of the Experiments Division is born with the aim to develop techniques and methods to be put at the service of the user community and as a cross-linker between beamlines, electron- and scanning probe-microscopy platforms, and collaborating institutions.

The section has four research groups focusing on different transversal aspects which are needed by the different scientific disciplines and which will contribute to the basis of ALBA II: Optics and Metrology,  Nanomotion, Methodologies, and X-ray/TEM Interface group.

We will develop pilot projects in different fields of research with the common trait that they require a multi-modal, multi-lengthscale and/or in situ approach combined with advanced data analysis. These collaborative projects will serve as platforms for methodological advances as well as for the identification and consolidation of synergies with the surrounding research and development ecosystem.
