RESEARCHERS STUDY THE VELVET EFFECT OF CHOCOLATE IN ALBA

A University of Barcelona research team has come to the NCD beamline of the ALBA Synchrotron for this experiment. One of the study’s conclusions is that the smooth mouthfeel results from the small size of the crystals and the lower melting temperature of the velvety chocolate coating.

MULTISCALE STRUCTURAL CHARACTERISATION OF YARN-LIKE CNT FIBRES BY SYNCHROTRON X-RAY DIFFRACTION

One of the most promising routes to exploit the axial properties of carbon nanotubes or graphene is to assemble them into a macroscopic fibre, with the graphitic layers aligned parallel with each other and the fibre axis.

TESTING NEW MATERIALS FOR BONE REGENERATION WITH SYNCHROTRON LIGHT

Researchers from the CRSPD of the Polytechnic Institute of Leiria (Portugal) have been performing time-resolved in situ SAXS experiments at NCD beamline in ALBA to map the morphology of a scaffold and test its level of deformation in working conditions. The results of this research are expected to have a huge impact in improving the recovery process of bone injuries and fractures.

FIRST PUBLICATION WITH DATA COLLECTED AT NCD BEAMLINE

Researchers from the Instituto de Ciencia y Tecnología de Polímeros (ICTP-CSIC) and the Centro Tecnológico Repsol have studied the development of the mesophase in random propylene-co-1octene copolymers. X-ray diffraction experiment was performed at NCD beamline to determine the nature of the different transitions. These results have been published in Macromolecules journal.
