The ALBA Synchrotron is located at Cerdanyola del Vallès, 15 km from Barcelona city centre. Here you will find details about the different ways methods to arrive to ALBA.
The closest airport to ALBA is Barcelona-El Prat International Airport. It is well connected to Barcelona city-center train stations: Barcelona-Sants, Barcelona-Passeig de Gràcia, Barcelona-Plaça de Catalunya. For more information, you can visit the AENA website or call +34 902 404 704.
To reach ALBA from Barcelona-El Prat airport you can get a taxi (about 30-40 minutes depending on the traffic). Tell the driver to bring you to "Sincrotró ALBA" or otherwise give him complete address (see above). You can also take the Aerobus from the airport to Barcelona city centre, till Plaça Catalunya (30-35 minutes) and then, reach ALBA with public transport (see instructions below).
Girona-Costa Brava, Reus and Lleida airports are also available. They are mainly operated by low-cost airlines and they are 45, 70 and 90 minutes drive by car, respectively, to the ALBA Synchrotron.
TRAIN + BUS
To reach ALBA, you can take different train options (from Barcelona city centre it takes around 40 minutes):
- RENFE - R7 line. Stop at Cerdanyola Universitat.
This line is a shuttle service to the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. To get to ALBA, you can go by foot or (about 20 minutes) or by bike. - RENFE - R4 line. Stop at Cerdanyola del Vallès.
- Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat - S1 line. Stop at Sant Cugat del Vallès.
- Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat -S2 line. Stop at Sant Cugat del Vallès or Bellaterra.
After the train, you need to take a bus from the train station till the ALBA Synchrotron (about 15-20 minutes).
- From Cerdanyola del Vallès train station, there are two available options:
· Bus B7 to Sant Cugat del Vallès / Rubí.
Departing from Av. de Primavera (Les Fontetes) stop. ALBA is at the stop called Ctra. BP-1413 (Sincrotró).
· Bus A4 to Sant Cugat del Vallès.
Departing from Av. Catalunya or Av. de Primavera (Les Fontetes). ALBA is at the stop called Ctra. BP-1413 (Sincrotró). - From Sant Cugat del Vallès train station, there are also two available options:
· Bus B7 to Cerdanyola del Vallès.
From Carrer dels Safareigs. ALBA is at the stop called Ctra. BP-1413 (Sincrotró).
· Bus A4 to Barcelona.
From Carrer dels Safareigs. ALBA is at the stop called Ctra. BP-1413 (Sincrotró). - From Bellaterra train station. Circular bus around Parc de l'Alba. ALBA is at the stop called Carrer de la Llum (Sincrotró).
BUSES FROM BARCELONA (Fabra i Puig area)
Bus A4 can also be taken from Barcelona (departure Fabra i Puig), avoiding the need to transfer by train. Get off at the stop Ctra. BP-1413 (Sincrotró).
Bus E3 connects Barcelona (Avinguda Meridiana area) with the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB), passing through Cerdanyola (Av. de Primavera – Les Fontetes), where you can transfer to A4 or B7 (see section above).

Note that Cerdanyola del Vallès, Sant Cugat del Vallès and Bellaterra are cities belonging to the list of municipalities where the Barcelona metropolitan fare applies (Zone 1).
ALBA is very close to the AP7 and the C58 motorways. From Barcelona city-center, you can reach the site by following the C58 road in approximately 30-40 minutes (depending on the traffic).
