Researchers from the Spanish National Cancer Research Centre (CNIO) have been able to observe for the first time DNA double chain breaks. X-ray crystallographic studies were performed at the ALBA Synchrotron and the Swiss Light Source. Results have been published in Nature Structural & Molecular Biology.
Using hard X-rays of the ALBA Synchrotron, a group of researchers have solved the crystal structure of rationally designed single-chain protein constructs that can prevent HIV-1 infection.
Researchers from the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya - BarcelonaTech (UPC), the Institute of Medical Chemistry (IQM-CSIC) and the University of Glasgow have proved that the CD27 drug is a true alternative against malaria. They have analysed the crystalline structure of the DNA with the drug by performing X-ray diffraction experiments at the ALBA Synchrotron. This work has been published in the journal Acta Crystallographica D.
Researchers from the Institute for Research in Biomedicine (IRB), the Molecular Biology Institute of Barcelona (IBMB-CSIC) and the University of Wageningen (The Netherlands) have discovered how auxin hormone-regulated proteins activate development genes in plants. Some of the measurements of this study- published in Cell- were performed at XALOC beamline.
