FAQS
How can I apply for beamtime

To apply for a beamtime you can find information in the dedicated section and the full and updated information in the ALBA general guide.

Where can I find the general user information?

If you are looking for information about how to get funding, how the process of beamtime review works, how to come, accommodation, information to prepare your visit, how to ship your samples and more, please check the section dedicated to the users.

How can I get in touch with my local contact?

Check out the Staff page of NCD-SWEET to get the phone numbers and emails of the beamline staff.

Which is the energy range & camera length?

The energy range is between 6.5 and 20.0 keV. The camera length can be from 2.1 to 7.2 m. More detail about the beamline can be found here.

Where is my proposal username and password?

Your proposal username is your proposal number starting with u: "uXXXXXXXX". The password was set at the beginning of your beamtime.

If you forgot the user and/or password, inside the user portal you can find the account management section to find the proposal number and restore the password. A notification will be sent to the users involved in the proposal to be aware that you changed the password.

Where can I prepare my samples?

ALBA has different laboratories with equipment to prepare your samples. The access must be requested when submitting your proposal or when preparing your visit to ALBA via the ALBA User Office Portal. If this is not possible, please, contact your local contact.

In these laboratories you will find the most common tools, equipment and chemicals. Some elements requested in the past by the users:

  • Centrifuges
  • Chemical hood
  • Deionized water
  • General consumables
  • Magnetic stirrer with heating
  • Microscope
  • Micropipettes
  • Milli Q water purification system
  • NanoDrop
  • Precisin scales
  • Spin coater
  • UV/vis Spectrophotometer

Please inform us in advance if you are going to need this lab so that we can plan for you to have access.

How can I download the data?

Here you can find details on how to download the data remotely. Check section 4./ Remote access to experiment data using SFTP
