Jordi Solé Ferrando, Eurodeputy and Secretary of International Policy of Esquerra Republicana de Catalunya (ERC), visited the ALBA Synchrotron facilities on April 7, 2021. Accompanied by its director, Caterina Biscari, Solé highlighted the relevance of the infrastructure to transfer knowledge to the economy.

Cerdanyola del Vallés, April 7, 2021. On April 7, 2021 the Eurodeputy and Secretary of International Policy of Esquerra Republicana de Catalunya (ERC), Jordi Solé Ferrando, accompanied by Miquel Carrillo Giralt (Deputy of the Catalan Parliament).

The director of the ALBA Synchrotron, Caterina Biscari, together with Alejandro Sánchez, head of the Industrial Liaison Office, accompanied the visitors throughout the facilities explaining its operation and its current state. In addition to visiting some of the beamlines, they had the opportunity to go inside the accelerator's tunnel, as it was a scheduled shutdown day for maintenance.

After the visit, the same day, to ALBA and the Barcelona Supercomputing Center, Solé said these are “two state of the art infrastructures that are open, from Catalonia, to researchers and companies around the world. They multiply the public funding received and transfer knowledge to the economy.”
