Led by the ICMAB-CSIC with the collaboration of, among others, the ALBA Synchrotron and based on the excellence obtained in the previous programme, DOCFAM+ (offers 26 doctoral scholarships for young researchers from all around the world in the Barcelona area.

DOCFAM+

Cerdanyola del Vallès, 3rd of November 2022. The doctoral training programme in Functional Advanced Materials: Towards a Better Future), shortened as DOCFAM+, is a European programme granted to the ICMAB-CSIC through the Marie Skłodowska-Curie (MSCA-COFUND) actions. It continues the 2017 edition, DOCFAM, and aims to repeat the success achieved offering 26 scholarships to worldwide young researchers.

The list of collaborators includes, apart from ALBA Synchrotron, the Catalan Institute of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology (ICN2), the Institute of Research on Energy in Catalonia (IREC), the Institute High Energy Physics(IFAE), the Institute of Microelectronics of Barcelona (INB-CNM-CSIC) and the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB). The beneficiaries of the programme will investigate and develop their PhDs in any of these institutions, with the possibility of doing internships in other internationals institutions or companies working in the sector.

The budget of the programme is 5M€, half of them directly co-financed by the European Commission, and the first call for applying opens in mid-2023.

DOCFAM+ includes projects listed in 3 branches of the environment of functional advanced materials: clean and safe energy, intelligent nanomedicine and low-cost sustainable electronics. These applications align with the investigation performed at ALBA and with the main challenges the European community faces.

Furthermore, DOCFAM+ is based on open science and the highest standards in scientific research. Following this line of success and excellence of its predecessor, the project aims to make a holistic approach to pioneering research using techniques and  transversal training, intersectoral and international nature to attract the best of the researching talent from all around the globe.
