Caterina Biscari

Director of the ALBA Synchrotron since 2012, experimental physicist with experience in accelerator physics, recognized for her important contributions to the design, construction and operation of particle accelerators. She has a degree in Physics from the Universidad Complutense de Madrid and a PhD in Physics from the Università degli Studi di Napoli. She has worked in different laboratories throughout her scientific career, particularly at CERN and at the Laboratorio Nazionali di Frascati of the INFN, where before joining the ALBA Synchrotron, she was Director of Technology and Deputy Director of Science for the Accelerators Division. She is currently an Associate Professor at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. She has been and is a member of several advisory panels, among others the CERN Machine Advisory Committee, the ESS Technical Advisory Committee, the XFEL Machine Advisory Committee, the PSI Advisory Council, the HZB Advisory Committee, the 2009 evaluation of the Helmholtz Program "Neutrons and ions". She was awarded the honor of the Ufficiale dell'Ordine della Stella d'Italia (2013) and Fellow of the European Physical Society (2009).
