The BEPC-based synchrotron radiation light source, Beijing Synchrotron Radiation Facility (BSRF), plays a very important role in the construction and operation of the large scientific facilities in China. As the first SR light source in China, a lot of users were trained at the BSRF, and more and more users' requirements were proposed in multi-disciplinary researches. Thus, the High Energy Photon Source (HEPS) becomes a natural extension. HEPS project was just officially approved two months ago, and its construction will start by the end of this year. In this talk, in addition to the status of the BSRF, the design study of the HEPS accelerator will be mainly introduced, and some of the beamlines considerations for the HEPS will be given as well.
