'Technology and economy for the energy transition', Beatriz Roldán Cuenya and Mar Reguant.

Although it is an extremely urgent challenge for the sustainability of the planet, the energy transition is not advancing at the pace it should. We are progressing towards more efficient solar panels, and cleaner, faster, and higher-capacity batteries, but we are still far from decarbonising heavy industries like metallurgy. How can technology help? What role does the economy play? Beatriz Roldán Cuenya, director of Fritz-Haber Institute and chair of the ALBA Synchrotron Scientific Advisory Committee and Mar Reguant Rido, climate economics researcher, review the current state of research on advanced materials and analyse the main economic and social factors of the energy crisis.

The event will close with Materia (Matter), an audiovisual performance by the digital artist Maotik. With generative visuals and synchronised sound design, this performance in real time explores the transformations of matter, passing through the four fundamental states (solid, liquid, gas, and plasma) in continuous metamorphosis to offer a multisensorial experience that unites art, science, and technology.
