More than 1,000 participants are attending the Opening Ceremony of the International Year of Light 2015 on 19th and 20th January in Paris. Caterina Biscari, on behalf of light sources, is giving a talk about the frontiers of synchrotron science.
2015 has been designated by the UNESCO as the International Year of Light and Light-based Technologies to show the society how light touches every aspect of our lives.
During two days, the Opening Ceremony of the International Year of Light and Light-based Technologies 2015 will gather decision-makers, industry leaders and renowned researchers from a broad range of scientific disciplines (including five Nobel plenary lectures). This event will be the starting point of a year full of scientific, artistic and cultural events to bring out the role of light in areas like health, communications, economy, environment or art.
Caterina Biscari, director of the ALBA Synchrotron, is taking part in the thematic session "Light at the limits" standing in for the light source community with a talk on "Frontiers of synchrotron science".
