The event, held on 19-20 June 2018 in Trieste (Italy), was useful for reviewing the work done as well as programming next tasks of this European project. ALBA will be hosting its 1st Annual meeting on December 2018.

25 June 2018.

CompactLight is a Horizon2020 Design Study that brings together an international collaboration (24 Partners) among universities, national institutions and industries, with the objective to demonstrate the feasibility of an innovative, compact and cost effective hard X-ray FEL facility suited for user demands. The project, which started in January 2018 and has a duration of 36 months, is funded by the European Commission with 3 M€.

The aim of CompactLight is to facilitate the widespread development of X-ray FEL facilities across Europe and beyond, by making them more affordable to construct and operate through an optimum combination of emerging and innovative accelerator technologies.

The Meeting, which was attended by almost all the Partners of the Collaboration (roughly 50 participants) and two members of the project's Scientific Advisory Committee (SAC), was dedicated to a review of the work conducted during the first six project months, the current status of all the Work Packages, and the preparation of work plans for the next six months. The ALBA Synchrotron will be hosting the 1st Annual meeting of the project on 10-12 December 2018.
