Zephyrus, a professional kit which eliminates the microorganisms present in patrimonial assets in a non-invasive way, has been awarded by the UAB Research Park program which highlights the best business ideas.
The fifth edition of the UAB Research Park Ideas Generation Program has acknowledged the best business ideas from the cultural and creative industries. In this program, a project in which the ALBA Synchrotron takes part, named Zephyrus, has obtained the third award.
It is a kit formed by a briefcase, which contains all the necessary elements for disinfecting artworks, archives, archeological objects or any other item and a simple manual containing the steps to follow in order to carry out the process. It is characterized by its easy application, since it does not require specialized technical staff for the development of the treatment. Moreover, it is complete, portable and respectful with the objects to be treated and the environment.
The team who has come up with the idea is formed by Marta Ávila and Harold Moreno, from the ALBA Synchrotron, Núria Morera and Ivan Campana, from the UAB Prehistory Department, and Carlos Alonso, Business Administration and Management graduate.
The award obtained consists on 1.000 euros and three months of incubation at the UAB Research Park Eureka building, in order to develop the idea and turn it into a business.
