ALBA Synchrotron
On the 6th May the ALBA Synchrotron is organizing an industrial workshop to explain how to use synchrotron light for analysing these materials. The Minister of Business and Knowledge of the Catalan government, Jordi Baiget i Cantons, will be in charge of the opening ceremony. Free registration is open till the 3rd of May.
Materials such as cements or concretes, pigments, ceramics or glass are fully integrated in our day lives covering a double mission: structural and decorative. Science and construction materials seem to be faraway concepts. However, the knowledge and control of their physical and chemical properties together with their manufacturing processes can directly affect their performance.
The ALBA Synchrotron organizes a new industrial workshop, on this occasion addressed to the cements, pigments, ceramics and glass industrial sector. During the event, researchers from ALBA and from other companies will describe how to use synchrotron light to discover and enhance the properties of these materials. Nubiola – worldwide leader in pigments – and X-Ray Data Services – spin-off company specialized in the analysis of materials with synchrotron light - will explain their experiences using the ALBA Synchrotron facilities. It is also included a visit to ALBA's facilities and areas of discussion and networking to promote the exchange of ideas between ALBA scientists and attendees.
The Minister of Business and Knowledge of the Catalan government, Jordi Baiget i Cantons, will be in charge of the opening ceremony.
The event is addressed to R+D+i responsible and members of companies of these sectors, willing to broaden their knowledge about the available techniques for improving the properties, quality and fabrication process of these materials.
The event has no registration fees. However, it is compulsory to complete a registration form before 3rd May: https://indico.cells.es/indico/event/70/
This is the 3rd industrial workshop organized by the Industry & Project Office of the ALBA Synchrotron. Previous editions were devoted to the pharmaceutical companies in 2015 and the chemical companies in 2014, gathering more than 40 participants in each of them.
