The ALBA Synchrotron is one of the scientific technological spots featured in this new thriller, promoted by Mobile World Capital Barcelona and broadcast on Prime Video and 3Cat. The international production explores how technology evolves and its implications for society.

The series tells the story of Ulises Albet, played by Álex González, a computer prodigy who has withdrawn from public life. Ten years later, he is forced back into action after receiving a call from his best friend, Samuel Barrera (Asier Etxeandia), who warns him that the world may be in danger. All of this unfolds during the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. The cast also includes other notable actors such as Alba Planas, Renata Notni, Iván Massagué and Jordi Mollà, among others.

The ALBA Synchrotron appears in episode five, where several scenes were filmed at different locations across the facility, including some of the experimental beamlines, the exterior of the building and other areas on the site.

Day One is an international production promoted by the Mobile World Capital Barcelona and has counted with the support of Prime Video and 3Cat. The series is distributed in more than 240 countries starting this Friday 13th March 2026. In Catalonia, it will premiere on 3Cat on the 22nd of March 2026.

The series remarks Barcelona’s position in science and technology, including also other renowned institutions like the Barcelona Supercomputing Center or the Universitat Pompeu Fabra.
