On Sant Jordi Day, a new issue of ALBA News magazine is out! As usual, you will find science highlights and technical developments of ALBA's beamlines and accelerators.

The main issue is devoted to MIRAS, the new infrared microspectroscopy beamline, including a complete report by Gary Ellis and Igors Sics, who perfectly describe the technique, its research possibilities as well as its current status in ALBA. 

The report Science and society, by Ana Cámara, provides interesting information about how to defeat the HIV using synchrotron X-rays. On occasion of the International Year of Light 2015, we interview María Josefa Yzuel,  president of the Spanish Committee for the IYL 2015 and professor at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. 

Industrial users and developments are also included in this issue with a special report from Henkel.

Addressed to the scientific community interested in the use of synchrotron radiation, ALBA News is a six-monthly magazine with the aim of informing about the main activities of ALBA.
