ALBA Synchrotron
Today 10 people younger than 30 years old start working at the ALBA Synchrotron thanks to the positive resolution of the grant for young employment in R+D+i launched by the Spanish Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness (MINECO). They will be working in engineering, computing, accelerators, experiments, health & safety and user office.
Nerves on edge and excitement are the common feelings of the ten new members of the ALBA crew in their first day of work. They take part of the ALBA staff, composed by 196 people who give service to more than 1,000 researchers every year.
These ten persons younger than 30 years old who, during their two-year contract, will reinforce areas such as the beamlines, the electronics engineering, the mechanical engineering, the process engineering and the infrastructure engineering, the controls systems, the health & safety office, the vacuum engineering, the magnetic measurements in accelerators complex and the user office. They all have different profiles, coming from university scientific or technological backgrounds as well as professional training.
In words of Caterina Biscari, director of the ALBA Synchrotron, "employing ten new young members in our staff is a great opportunity for all of them as well as a positive boost of force, work and new ideas for our institution".
This recruitment has been possible thanks to the program "Sub-30 Young Employment", promoted by the State Secretary of R+D+i, which belongs to the Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness (MINECO) of the Spanish government. This program has enabled more than 1,300 contracts with a value of 51 million euros.
