Primary school teachers can sign up their teams of 10-12 years old students for the second edition of Mision ALBA at www.misionalba.es. In the first year, more than 250 teachers and 7,000 students from all over the country took part in this educational project launched by the ALBA Synchrotron.

 The second edition of Mision ALBA is about to start. This science educational project, organised by the ALBA Synchrotron, ran out all the vacancies the last school year and this one the offer has been increased by 40%, expecting 400 teachers being registered, totally for free. The mission is developed online and its contents are in agreement with the requirements of the official curriculum for this educational stage. Registration will be available until 20th October 2019 and the Mission will begin in January 2020.

Both students and teachers valued very positively the first edition of Mission ALBA, for being "a different, stimulating and motivating way of teaching science" that "provides resources and confidence for teachers when doing experiments in the classroom" and "gives the chance to be in touch with scientists", in the words of the participants.

This year, more than 10,000 students from all over Spain are expected to solve the 4 challenges related to matter, force, energy and light that will be introduced by the ALBA staff through the virtual web. Under the motto of making visible the invisible, the students will be performing experiments in their classrooms following the instructions given by the Synchrotron team in order to find the right answer, until completing the whole mission. According to the students "the challenges are simple but interesting, as you can learn many complicated things, while having a good time working with your classmates".

Teams from will be trying to solve the mission at the same time. Shirts, videoconferences with the scientists who have guided students or the visit of some of them to the school are the prizes that will be raffled among the teams at each stage.

The main objectives of the project are to promote science among the youngsters by giving a positive and motivating vision of it and to offer teachers resources to work science in an experiential way. Driven by the ALBA Synchrotron, Mision ALBA has de support of Obra Social "La Caixa"and has been produced in collaboration with Eduxarxa.
