. Caterina Biscari, director of the ALBA Synchrotron, warmly acknowledged the award and wanted to highlight the close collaboration between ALBA and the UAB. "ALBA and the UAB have always been connected. ALBA was conceived by members of the UAB and was born at UAB premises. This recognition is for all the ALBA staff and represents a boost to keep strengthening the links between both institutions", said Caterina Biscari during her speech. She also expressed the will of continuing collaborating, by expanding ALBA and UAB research possibilities, with the construction of ASTIP, the ALBA Science, Technology and Innovation Park.
During the event, three UAB members were also awarded: Maite Paramio, Berta Gutiérrez and Arcadi Oliveras (posthumous award). Bonaventura Bassegoda received the Libraries' Friend award and a special tribute was given to journalist Antonio Franco, former president of Amics UAB, who passed away last September. Hospitals were also acknowledged for their key role during the most intense months of the pandemic. All the award-winning received an illustration by artist Alicia Jiménez - Pico Malvado.
