ALBA has been awarded the 1st 2017 Asepeyo prize as the best preventive practices, in the "Implementation of an integrated control system for the experiments executed at the ALBA Synchrotron".

The jury of the VI edition of the Asepeyo Awards has recognized the ALBA Synchrotron in the category of best practices for risk control. The implementation of a procedure for controlling safety during the experiments done at the facility has been awarded the first prize ex aequo together with the proposal on work safety in real time presented by the company Eiffage Infraestructuras, SAU.

The ceremony has been held this morning at 13:00h in Málaga, where the director of the ALBA Synchrotron, Caterina Biscari, and the Head of  the Health and Safety Office, Victor Garrido, had collected the prize. Both wanted to thank a long list of people involved in the preparation and implementation of the procedure, and also congratulate all ALBA staff as "all of us are part of the prevention system". "This must give us one more reason to increase everybody commitment in keeping safe our working and living environments", added Biscari.

These prizes aim at rewarding those companies associated to Mutua Asepeyo – a  labor health insurance company – that have stood out for their practices, recognizing their commitment in the field of prevention of occupational hazards.

ALBA Synchrotron created in 2014 a Multidisciplinary Commission for Occupational Risk Prevention (CMPRL). Its function is to perform a continuous evaluation of the experiments development and evolution from a risk prevention point of view. The committee members are scientists, technician staff who manage the users (external researchers that come to the synchrotron for performing their experiments), risk prevention staff and employee representatives.
