ALBA Synchrotron
Coinciding with the celebration of the International Day of Light, the ALBA Synchrotron presents a new video with 360° technology that allows the public to make an immersive visit to the facilities of the synchrotron light source. Just by using 3D glasses or moving the cursor around, you can follow the explanations of our guides and look at the details as if you were physically in ALBA. This project has been developed with the collaboration of Fundación Española para la Ciencia y la Tecnología.

Cerdanyola del Vallès, May 16, 2022
Every May 16, since 2015, the International Day of Light is celebrated, a global initiative that seeks to improve the public understanding of how light and light-based technologies touch the daily lives of everybody, and are central to the future development of the global society.
ALBA, the only synchrotron light source in Spain, offers its light for progress in many scientific areas. Thus, coinciding with today’s celebration, the ALBA Synchrotron presents a new video with 360° technology that allows the public to visit the facilities.
Lucía Aballe, from the experiments division, and Ubaldo Iriso, from the accelerators division, guide us through the tour while explaining how ALBA works.
One of the most remarkable aspects of the visit, being that it is recorded in 360º, is that just by looking at it with 3D glasses or by moving the cursor around over the video, you can see all the details of the place, including the interior of the accelerator’s tunnel or a beamline.
