Accompanied by the director Caterina Biscari and the deputy director Gastón García, he has had the opportunity to know in detail the operation and future plans of the scientific facility located in the city of Cerdanyola.

The ALBA Synchrotron has welcomed today Carlos Cordón, new mayor of Cerdanyola del Vallès, after the municipal elections held on the 28th of May 2019. During his visit, Caterina Biscari informed about the current status of the infrastructure, highlighting the efficient and stable operation of the complex of electron accelerators, as well as the experiments carried out in a wide range of scientific areas (biomedicine, materials science, magnetism, cultural heritage, etc.).
As the technical shutdown period begins today, the group has been able to enter the accelerators' tunnel, where they have continued talking about the operation of the facility, as well as their future plans. In particular, they could discuss about the four new beamlines at ALBA that are currently under construction. During the visit, the mayor has remarked "the relevance of an infrastructure such as the ALBA Synchrotron for the city of Cerdanyola del Vallès", expressing his desire to collaborate and work for its development.
This visit is within the framework of the program for institutional relations of the ALBA Synchrotron
to increase awareness of the features and applications of the only synchrotron light source in Spain.
