ALBA Synchrotron
The Spanish Government Delegate in Catalonia, Carlos Prieto, visited the ALBA Synchrotron facilities today. During the visit he was accompanied by its director, Caterina Biscari, and other members of the management, with whom he spoke about the unique and cutting-edge techniques that ALBA offers to the scientific and industrial community as well as the future renovation project, ALBA II.
This morning the Spanish Government Delegate in Catalonia visited the ALBA Synchrotron. The visit started with a meeting with the ALBA's Management, where the Delegate knew the current status of the installation, its impact in the scientific and industrial community as well as the applications which synchrotron light offers in fields such as biomedicine, new energies or materials science.
The director of ALBA, Caterina Biscari, also explained the future projects of ALBA, like ALBA II, the upgrade plan to continue performing cutting-edge science that will provide a wide range of new analytical tools, innovative methodologies and improved data management and analysis.
After the meeting, the group visited different areas of the facility. In particular, the Spanish Government Delegate had the opportunity to visit different beamlines at the Experimental Hall, where researchers carry out experiments in a wide variety of scientific fields.
The Spanish Government Delegate highlighted the role of the ALBA Synchrotron as one of the most important scientific infrastructures in Spain, a benchmark in research and innovation.
