ALBA Synchrotron

Last Saturday, 24th of May 2025, the ALBA Synchrotron opened its doors to the public for its annual meeting, where 1,917 enthusiastic visitors discovered the facilities and explored the fascinating world of synchrotron light.
During the whole day, attendees of all ages enjoyed the free itinerary around ALBA's experimental hall. Visitors could know more about how the accelerators and the experimental beamlines work, engaging in direct conversation with the 140 volunteers - members of the staff and students - who took part in the event.
This unique opportunity allowed the public to step inside one of the most advanced scientific infrastructures in southern Europe and learn firsthand how synchrotron light is used for cutting-edge research in fields such as health, energy, environment, or cultural heritage.
Through interactive exhibits, demonstrations, and other supports like posters, visitors gained deeper insight into the science and technology behind ALBA.
